Job Overview

The Lead Journeyman Steamfitter will supervise, evaluate, plan, and participate in the mechanical day-do-day operation, maintenance, repair, and construction of the base steam utility system, building/facility distribution systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Serves as the primary supervisor, technician, and technical resource for the steam utilities and building systems.
  • Ensures that all required maintenance and repair efforts, including those that CHP operators and mechanics cannot take care of themselves, are identified, initiate documentation (i.e., work requests and notifications in accordance with the PWS or Government wo control center calls), and provide repairs, modifications.
  • Accomplishes all necessary maintenance or repairs (as either operations maintenance, repairs, service work, or work requests) in an appropriate and timely fashion.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs as necessary to prevent undue wear and tear, prolong the useful life of equipment and systems, and promote the most efficient and economical performance.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ten (10) years of documented experience as a steamfitter working on steam systems.
  • Three (3) years experience supervising other workers who monitor, operate, maintain, and repair steam system and associated equipment.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the mechanical codes and best practices regarding steam systems.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the safety hazards and necessary safety precautions connected with steam systems.
  • Current State of Alaska Steamfitter Journeyman certification of fitness.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security clearance if required.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
